The first 41 photos were taken on the Saturday before the Iron Butt Rally began. Riders were going through tech inspection and check-in. I'll be adding more photos as the rally progresses: at the start on Monday, the check point on August 24, and the finish and banquet on August 31.

Marilyn > These wires come out of the front of Rob's bike behind the windscreen. They power electronic instruments on the dash.

Marilyn > Rob shows his computer setup to an onlooker. The computer is the one that attaches to the top of his tank bag. It's a touch screen Toughbook with a waterproof keyboard. On the screen at the time was Internet weather radar.

Marilyn > There were a variety of auxiliary gas tanks. Iron-Butters are allowed to carry 11.5 gallons of gas and not a drop more.
